Dermaplaning

Our exfoliating facial treatment

At My Skin Studio, our Dermaplaning treatment delivers your skin amazing results that remove the dead and unwanted skin cells from the surface of your skin.  This removal allows for your skin to rejuvenate and will immediately give your skin a more youthful appearance, this appearance is also a lasting one.  One of the other benefits of this treatment is that it removes all of the tiny vellus hair (also known as “peach fuzz”) from your face.

So how does Dermaplaning work? Our therapist uses a disposable sterile surgical scalpel to gently scrape and shave away the damaged and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.  This non-invasive treatment has no side effects – apart from your skin having a slight pinkish tinge for a few hours.  Some people have experienced some dryness and tightness for 5-7 days after their treatment (this is simply the exfoliating process in action).

If your skin has active acne – we do not recommend a course of this treatment, however because of the nature of the treatment, it is great to resurface acne scarring – dermaplaning helps to smooth out the acne scarring effect.   Dermaplaning also helps to remove fine lines as well as sun damage to your skin.

Call us today at My Skin Studio to discuss this treatment more or to book a treatment.

The Dermaplaning things to know:

  • Because of the very nature of Dermplaning it is best to be trained in the treatment – this is not one of those do at home treatments – our therapists are fully trained in Dermplaning.
  • If you have hyper-sensitive skin, active acne or severe rosacea – then we would advise for you not to do this treatment.
  • Your facial hair will not grow back stronger and darker – this normally occurs when hormones are being taken or there is a hormone imbalance.
